UITBB stands in solidarity with the Argentinian workers
Today, on the 24th of January 2024, a national strike is organised in Argentina, with thousands of workers taking the streets against the far-right Government of PM Milei. UITBB, answering the call of WFTU, calls on its affiliates to express their internationalist solidarity with the Argentinean workers on the same day, under the slogan “Solidarity with the Argentinean workers“. We call upon our member-organisations to organize mobilizations outside Argentinian embassies and consulates in all corners of the world.
UITBB expresses its support for the strike and mobilization called by the Argentinean trade union confederations (CGT, CTA T and CTA A) and our affiliate unions, to express their opposition to the measures of the ultra-liberal and neo-fascist government of Javier Milei.
We will always fight all laws that directly attack the rights of the workers, as well as the rights of the trade unions themselves, which is what happening in Argentina right now. Such policies, apart from being extremely neoliberal, are also a harsh attack on trade union freedoms, such as the right to organize and to strike.
Long live international solidarity!
