Dear Mr. Minister,

You are probably aware of the serious accident that took place on 31st March 2016 at 12.32 h at Kolkata. Vivekananda Flyover collapsed and caused the death of more than 44 workers and passers-by and injured more than 150 people.

On behalf of our organization we have raised this issue at the press conference at Kolkata Press Club on 3rd April 2016 and in an open forum of dignitaries of West Bengal State on 4th April 2016, in Kolkata. This open forum was attended by Ex-Justice of the Supreme Court, by eminent lawyers of the Calcutta High Court and of Supreme Court, by Ex-Vice Chancellors of various universities, internationally famous poets and performers, national film stars, drama writers, artists and a great number of news media representatives and numerous construction workers.

The forum raised the following demands:

  1. An independent judiciary inquiry to be made to find out the reasons of such a fatal accident.
  2. The culprits of this fatal accident must be identified and punished.
  3. A compensation of Rs. 10 Lakhs must be paid without delay to the relatives of the dead and a compensation of Rs. 5 Lakhs to injured workers and persons.

We expect your personal intervention in this matter and the immediate payment of compensations.
