UITBB’s 18th Congress concluded with great success!
UITBB’s 18th Congress was organized over a 2-day period in Larnaca, Cyprus, from 21-22 November 2025. The program started with revolutionary songs, and then Adamos Katalanos, Organising Secretary of the host organization (Cyprus Builders’ Union) welcomed the delegates. PEO General Secretary Sotiroulla Charalampous then took the floor for her speech, followed by WFTU General Secretary Pampis Kyritsis. Finally, for the first part of the program, UITBB General Secretary Michalis Papanikolaou gave the introductory speech and policy document, which formed the basis of the discussion for the next 2 days.
The remaining day was spent on interventions by the various delegates, discussing the challenges the workers in the construction industry are facing in every part of the world, exchanged good practices and suggested ideas for UITBB’s development, all based on the issues raised both in the Action Report / Policy Document and the General Secretary’s introductory document, such as international political developments, the attacks on the workers by the capital, organizational issues, migrant workers, female workers, young people in the construction industry, safety and health in the workplace, etc.
The following day, the participants, in a spirit of absolute solidarity and unity, made some important decisions, adopted several resolutions, and elected the new leadership of the UITBB. Photos and videos from the Congress:
