UITBB Statement Condemning the US Imperialist Attack on Venezuela
The Trade Unions International of Building, Wood, Building Materials and Allied Industries (UITBB), condemns the unprovoked military aggression carried out by the United States against the sovereign Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on January 3, 2026. This outrageous act, which included airstrikes on Caracas and the forcible capture and removal of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, represents a violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the fundamental principles of national sovereignty and self-determination.
This is nothing short of imperialist intervention, aimed at seizing control of Venezuela’ss vast natural resources, including its oil reserves, under the guise of combating “narco-terrorism” and promoting “democracy”. This attack is a continuation of years of economic sanctions, blockades, and covert operations designed to destabilize a legitimate government elected by the Venezuelan people. It exposes the hypocrisy of US foreign policy, which preaches human rights while unleashing violence on independent nations that resist hegemonic domination.
UITBB stands in unwavering solidarity with the working class, trade unions, and people of Venezuela in their heroic struggle against this neo-colonial assault. This aggression not only threatens Venezuela but sets a dangerous precedent for all sovereign nations, particularly in Latin America, where where imperialism seeks to impose its will through military force.
We call upon all UITBB members to:
– Demand the immediate release of President Maduro and First Lady Flores, and the withdrawal of all US forces from Venezuelan territory.
-Mobilize mass protests, strikes, and international campaigns to defend Venezuela’s sovereignty and expose US imperialism.
– Strengthen global anti-imperialist unity to prevent further interventions
The sovereignty of nations is non-negotiable. No country has the right to invade, bomb, or dictate the affairs of another. UITBB reaffirms its commitment to the fight against capitalism, exploitation, and imperialism in all its forms. Victory to the Venezuelan people!
