UITBB mourns the passing of comrade Robert Brun
With deep regret and sadness, the UITBB has been informed of the death of comrade Robert Brun, former President of UITBB, who passed away in France. Comrade Brun was a longtime leader in the French construction workers’ movement and served with distinction as President of UITBB.
The UITBB, its leadership and I personally, were honoured to have had a leader like Robert in our ranks, with his unwavering solidarity with the working class, his lifelong dedication to the global and progressive trade union movement, and his selfless commitment to our cause for a new society. He always defended the rights of workers in the construction sector, not only in France and Europe, but throughout the world, through his leadership of the UITBB.
Robert was one of the most principled trade unionists, a class-conscious leader, a devoted comrade, and a loyal friend to many in our movement. I was deeply honoured to call him not just a comrade, but a friend.
In this moment of sadness and deep grief, we express our deepest condolences and solidarity with his family, friends, and comrades in the trade union movement. We have lost a courageous comrade, but his work and legacy will outlive him. The class struggle for a new society and for the rights of the working class will continue along the path walked by comrade Robert.
On behalf of the millions of UITBB workers around the world and myself personally, rest in peace, comrade Robert Brun. You will always be remembered.
