UITBB condemns the attack on the home of UITBB Secretariat Member and FTCCP General Secretary, Luis Villanueva Carbajal.
UITBB expresses its most vigorous condemnation of the explosive attack carried out on the morning of March 18 at the residence of its Secretariat member, Luis Villanueva Carbajal, the general secretary of the Federation of Workers in Civil Construction of Peru (FTCCP).
This criminal act is part of the advancement of organized crime, which has claimed the lives of 26 union leaders in recent years, seriously affecting the safety and exercise of labor rights in the country.
UITBB demands from all relevant authorities in Peru to adopt urgent and effective measures to identify and punish those responsible, as well as the strengthening of security strategies to protect trade union leaders and workers in general.
Impunity only encourages new acts of violence that attack democracy and the right to union organization.
UITBB reaffirms its commitment to defending labor rights and fighting against all forms of violence and intimidation towards the working class.
