Solidarity with India Strike – 12 Feb 2026

The Trades Union International of Workers in the Building, Wood, Building Materials and Allied Industries (UITBB), representing millions of construction and related sector workers worldwide, expresses its full and unwavering solidarity with the Indian working class on the occasion of today’s nationwide general strike on February 12, 2026.

We stand firmly with our brothers and sisters in India, including the construction workers affiliated through our partners and the broader joint platform of central trade unions, as they take to the streets in massive numbers to resist the anti-worker, anti-farmer, and pro-corporate policies of the government.

This powerful mobilization opposes the four labour codes that undermine hard-won rights, facilitate easier hiring and firing, weaken collective bargaining, promote privatization, contractualization, and attacks on job security, wages, and social protections. It also demands fair policies for farmers, a living minimum wage, universal social security, protection of the public sector, and an end to exploitative economic measures that prioritize corporate interests over people’s needs.

The determination shown today by millions of workers across sectors, demonstrates that the working class refuses to accept exploitation, authoritarianism, and injustice. This strike is a vital act of resistance and a call for dignity, democracy, trade union rights, and social progress.

UITBB calls on all its affiliated organizations globally to express active support, raise awareness of the struggles in India, and strengthen international working-class unity against these attacks.

Long live international solidarity!
