Protest in Greece on September 5
At a massive nationwide workers’ rally during the Thessaloniki International Fair on 5 September 2026, UITBB Secretariat Member, Giannis Tasioulas denounced successive Greek governments, mainstream parties, the EU and NATO for empty promises, anti-labour laws, low wages frozen at 2012 levels, tax burdens on ordinary people, workplace deaths, and involvement in imperialist wars, while arguing that capitalist “development” plans serve only the profits of the few.

He called on workers, farmers, youth, pensioners and women to escalate unified struggles, reject social partnership agreements that keep wages low, prepare for coordinated actions including a 30 October port mobilisation against war and for better conditions, build alliances with other popular strata, and organise toward nationwide strike escalation so that the working class can impose its demands and ultimately overthrow the system of exploitation.
