CGTP-IN National Demonstration Against the Labour Package in Portugal
The PSD/CDS government has presented a draft bill to amend labour legislation that is an assault on workers’ rights and an affront to the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic.
This labour package attacks a wide range of rights and contains proposals that aim to perpetuate and worsen low wages, promote the deregulation of working hours, multiply the reasons for and extend the terms of precarious employment, facilitate dismissals and limit the defence and reinstatement of workers, attack maternity and paternity rights, facilitate expiry and promote the destruction of collective bargaining, attack trade union freedom and the right to strike, imposing limitations that profoundly undermine these fundamental rights.

No less serious is the fact that none of the proposals presented in this package aims to resolve the problems that already exist in labour legislation, with rules that harm workers and their rights and need to be repealed.

This made FEVICCOM’s strong mobilisation and participation in the struggle on 20 September 2025 in the National Demonstration in Lisbon and Porto even more important, against the new labour package, for the right to housing and health, for the strengthening and improvement of public services and the social functions of the State, for a change of course that guarantees the construction of a Portugal with a future!
