Parliament March by CWFI India for Decent Welfare and Pensions – 6th April

On 6th of April, the Construction Workers Federation of India organised a Parliament March, to demand decent welfare and pension for the workers. Comrade R. Singaravelu, member of the UITBB Secretariat, presided over the mass rally

On behalf of CWFI (Construction Workers Federation of India) a Parliament March took place. Com.Tapan Sen M.P, Com.Sampath M.P, Com.Shankar Datta M.P greeted the participants in the March. Com.R.Singaravelu, presided over the mass rally. Leaders Debanjan Chakrobarthi and other CWFI leaders addressed the rally.

The main demands were:

– Do not disturb the welfare cess (tax), following the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax.

– Do not diversify the cess fund to other purposes.

– Uniform welfare benefits in all the state welfare boards.

– Pension of Rs.3000 per month.

– Pension to women workers at the age of 55.

– Convene the Central Advisory Committee.

– Ensure supply of sand, stones, etc., at affordable rates.

A delegation of leaders presented memorandums to the Central Labour Minister and the State External Affairs Minister.
