The UITBB Secretariat held an online meeting on April 22, 2020.
The main issues the meeting dealt with included the examination of the situation due to the pandemic, the consequences on the peoples and the construction workers specifically, the measures taken to protect the workers, health and safety issues as well as issues of survival the workers are facing due to the halt in construction activities around the world, the next day for the workers and the duty of the trade union movement to protect their rights and the responsibilities of the conservative right-wing governments due to the attacks on public health systems.
The Secretariat also discussed the necessity to explain to the workers the importance of the class-based struggle and the need for a new society without exploitation that will be able to react collectively and deal with such extraordinary problems efficiently.
