The 56th National Working Committee of CWFI was held at Fatehabad, Haryana from 6th to 8th January 2016 started with a mammoth public rally of construction workers. CWFI vowed to unleash intensive campaign against right-wing communal onslaughts of RSS –BJP combined.

The working committee decided to observe 19th January to commemorate 1st All India strike called by Central Trade Unions. CWFI also decided to observe 5th February 2016 all India protest day to meet up demands of 2nd September,2015 strike.

The 56th National working committee of CWFI decided to enroll more members from the working women and youth workers and make their presence in leadership felt at all levels. CWFI calls upon its members to extend their support in the forthcoming assembly elections of 5 states, West Bengal, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Puducheri, and Assam in favour of left democratic forces, as 100% F.D.I in construction industry will ruin the indigenous construction industry and job potential of the construction workers.

19th February’2016 All India Demand Day will be observed with the slogan “Save construction Industry Save construction workers”. CWFI will submit a memorandum to the Finance Minister, Government of India with a demand for more allocation of funds for construction work under different ministries. A similar memorandum will be submitted by the state level federation /union addressed to state chief minister on the same demands.  CWFI demands the central government to shape up uniform benefits for all the beneficiaries enrolled under construction workers welfare board in different states.

CWFI will strengthen construction workers movement nationwide with intensive struggles and campaigns.CWFI strongly condemns the policy of Govt. allowing 100% FDI in construction industry and demands proper implementation of Pradhan Mantri Avas Yojana in all the states and for the Govt. to extend subsidy towards housing for construction workers.CWFI also demands an increase of pensions to the amount of Rs.2000 per month and a reduction of the age of pension eligibility for women to 55 years.
